Our Story
Built by Koop is the result of two generations, one shared mindset, and a lifetime of building things.
The Foundation
It started with Kurt Middelkoop — an industrial engineer who began his career at Texas Instruments, later ran a fitness gym, and eventually joined TMAC, where he has spent over 25 years consulting with Texas manufacturers to improve performance, streamline operations, and drive measurable results. His career has been defined by a simple belief: great systems create great outcomes.
The Next Generation
Courtney Middelkoop followed in his footsteps studying industrial engineering at Iowa State and competed in collegiate gymnastics. What started as freelance client work under the name Koop grew into a full-time role in operations at Factur, where she continues to build systems that help businesses scale.
Alongside her career, Courtney has always been an athlete. She has now traded four events in gymnastics for five – now training for the 2028 LA Olympics in Modern Pentathlon. Along the way, she’s combining her engineering mindset and athletic pursuit by leveraging AI for her training, performance, and recovery.
